  Secondhand Goods

In recent years, second-hand transactions have become quite common. Nowadays there are more and more secondhand goods in the market, such as secondhand books, furniture, appliances, cars, and so on. Why do so many people like to buy secondhand goods?

The following reasons can account for this phenomenon. Above all, secondhand goods are cheaper than new ones. This enables those people who have poor financial abilities to buy the things they want. Moreover, secondhand goods transactions make it possible for people to make good use of the goods which may be useless in their hands. Besides, Internet provides a more convenient and quicker transaction platform for secondhand goods。

However, there are also some problems in secondhand goods transactions. For one thing, the quality of secondhand goods can not be promised and you can not enjoy the good after-sale service. For another, secondhand goods market lacks enough supervision and management, and there exist many dishonest business activities. In a word, I think secondhand goods transaction is a good trading way, but it needs further perfection of the rules。

题目:The impact of the Internet on interpersonal communication

要求:commenting on "Dad:Hi sweetie, how was school, today? Daughter: You can read all about it on my blog, Dad"

  范文:

In contemporary society, our life is filled with a variety of anecdotes or stories, and the following is no exception: "Dad:Hi sweetie, how was school, today? Daughter: You can read all about it on my blog, Dad." Funny as it seems, this conversation can be naturally associated with the impacts of Internet on our life: In an era of Internet, the time for interpersonal communication is impaired by online chats or blogs。

Apparently, the impacts of the Internet on interpersonal communication are diverse. For one thing, as a vital invention, Internet brings great convenience to our communication, eliminates the barrier of distance, and helps humans to keep in touch wherever and whenever. For another, it is Internet that does not enables family members, friends or classmates to communicate more in a face-to-face way. One case in point is that youngsters may spend hours chatting with acquaintances through QQ or MSN, but rarely do they talk with other face to face. Unfortunately, it we let this trend to continue as it is, the interpersonal relationship will, definitely, become alienated。

To my understanding, it is advisable for people to communicate more with their families, friends and acquaintances in real life instead of merely through the Internet. Do bear in mind: Internet is just a tool.

It is illustrated in the pie charts that graduates’ choices after graduation have experienced much change. The number of students choosing to pursue a master’s degree and study abroad grows several times over the decade.

The reasons of the increasing number of students pursuing a master’s degree are as follows. First, with the number of college graduates growing each year, the situation in the job market is getting tighter and tighter. The public awareness of the situation has created a surge of interest in seeking a master’s degree. Secondly, many cross-national companies set a much higher standard for new recruits than ever. It seems that the higher education you have, the higher salary you may receive.

Choosing to study for master’s degree will benefit the individuals and the whole society as well. The quality of Chinese intellectuals will be considerably enhanced, which in turn will boost the progress of the whole society.

Nowadays, it is not rare to see people displaying their wealth on the Internet. Some post pictures of luxury goods, such as brand clothes and bags, luxurious automobiles or jewelries. Some write about their experiences in which a lot of money is spent.

People have different responses to this phenomenon. Some say that it is people’s right to share their possessions or experiences with others on the Internet, as long as the things are legal and the experiences real. However, some criticize that the rich people are too arrogant. What’s worse, there are also a few who are not actually rich but put fake photos only to satisfy their vanity.

In my opinion, sharing is a good thing, and it is exactly the spirit of the Internet. But people should make careful choice on what they are sharing. After all, showing off is not very nice, not to mention faking.

When I was a teenager, I felt I was so lost and wanted to prove that I was mature enough to get rid of my parents’ nursing. There are many reasons for teenagers’ change. First, their bodies grow so fast that they could not adjust their mood. The change in their bodies makes them feel different from others, they don’t know how to do, so they feel annoyed and want to disguise themselves. For parents, they have to realize that their kids have grown up and should not treat them like a kid. Second, the parents must get to know that the teenagers will experience many stages during their teenager time. So when their kids become rebel, they need to understand and not fight with them. Giving their kids some time, they will overcome their emotion.

Teenager time a special stage, the change of teenagers will make the parents and teachers worry, but I think they should not be so hard on them, just to be their friends.

英语六级阅读真题训练及答案1

Some futurologists have assumed that the vast upsurge (剧增) of women in the workforce mayportend a rejection of marriage. Many women, according to this hypothesis, would ratherwork than marry. The converse (反面) of this concern is that the prospects of becoming amulti-paycheck household could encourage marriages. In the past, only the earnings andfinancial prospects of the man counted in the marriage decision. Now, however, the earningability of a woman can make her more attractive as a marriage partner. Data show thateconomic downturns tend to postpone marriage because the parties cannot afford to establisha family or are concerned about rainy days ahead. As the economy rebounds, the number ofmarriages also rises.

Coincident with the increase in women working outside the home is the increase in divorcerates. Yet, it may be wrong to jump to any simple cause-and-effect conclusions. The impact ofa wife’s work on divorce is no less cloudy than its impact on marriage decisions. The realizationthat she can be a good provider may increase the chances that a working wife will choosedivorce over an unsatisfactory marriage. But the reverse is equally plausible. Tensionsgrounded in financial problems often play a key role in ending a marriage. Given highunemployment, inflationary problems, and slow growth in real earnings, a working wife canincrease household income and relieve some of these pressing financial burdens. By raising afamily’s standard of living, a working wife may strengthen her family’s financial andemotional stability.

Psychological factors also should be considered. For example, a wife blocked from a careeroutside the home may feel caged in the house. She may view her only choice as seeking adivorce.

On the other hand, if she can find fulfillment through work outside the home, work andmarriage can go together to create a stronger and more stable union.

Also, a major part of women’s inequality in marriage has been due to the fact that, in mostcases, men have remained the main breadwinners. With higher earning capacity and statusoccupations outside of the home comes the capacity to exercise power within the family. Aworking wife may rob a husband of being the master of the house. Depending upon how thecouple reacts to these new conditions, it could create a stronger equal partnership or it couldcreate new insecurities.
